How To Operate a John Deere X330
Product Features
Built To Perform
iTorque™ Power System — 22 HP V-Twin
Same Select Series backbone as the 42-in. X330: a 22 HP Kawasaki V-Twin paired with iTorque™ engineering. Extra torque under load and consistent RPM at the deck — mow tough grass, tackle hills, and finish with a factory-clean cut.
48-in. Accel Deep™ (48A) Mower Deck
The 48-in. Accel Deep™ deck adds 6 inches of cut width vs. the 42-in. version — up to 20% less mowing time on larger lots. Deep flat-top design keeps grass suspended for a superior finish. Mow up to 5.5 mph with a level, professional-quality cut.
Twin Touch™ Pedals + Cruise Control
Separate forward/reverse foot pedals for effortless direction changes. Cruise control lets you set a steady speed on long open stretches and just steer. LED headlights, cargo mount system and a full-length welded frame come standard.
4-Year / 300-Hour Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty
One of the longest warranties in the class — 4 years or 300 hours, whichever comes first — on the entire tractor. Backed by John Deere's dealer network and 24/7 customer support.

Cuts like a dream!
Just upgraded to the X330 with the 48" Accel Deep deck, and man, what a difference. My old rider used to leave clumps, but this thing mulches everything so fine. We've got about 1.5 acres, mostly flat, and it handles the thick spring growth with ease. The smooth hydro-static drive makes navigating around the garden beds a breeze. Wish I'd gotten one sooner. Highly recommend for any homeowner with a bigger yard.

Powerful and reliable
I've had my X330 for a full season now, and it's been nothing short of excellent. The 20 HP Kawasaki V-Twin has plenty of grunt, even when I'm pulling a small cart full of firewood or aerating the lawn in the fall. The steering is tight, and that cast-iron front axle gives me confidence on the uneven parts of my property. My 2-acre lot used to take forever, now it's a quick and enjoyable chore. Deere always builds 'em tough.

Great upgrade from my old D110
After years with a D-series, I finally splurged on the X330 and I'm so glad I did. The ride is much smoother, and the 48" Accel Deep deck really does a fantastic job of lifting and cutting. My yard is about an acre, rocky in spots, and that cast-iron front axle feels super solid. The Kawasaki engine starts right up every time, even after sitting for a bit. It’s a joy to operate, makes yard work less of a chore.

Easy to use, good cut
I'm not as spry as I used to be, so I needed something easy to operate. This X330 fits the bill. The hydro-static transmission means no shifting, which is a blessing. The 48" deck covers a good amount of ground, and the cut is always even and tidy. My only minor complaint is it took me a little while to get used to the controls, but once I did, it was smooth sailing. The men folk in my family all like the Kawasaki engine. Good machine for my 3/4 acre.

Solid Performer
I manage a few properties and do all my own yard work. The X330 with its 20 HP Kawasaki V-Twin has been a workhorse. It powers through tall, wet grass without bogging down. The 48" Accel Deep deck provides a clean cut every single time, which is important for curb appeal. The hydro-static pedal is super responsive, making it easy to maneuver around tight spots. Definitely recommend this tractor for homeowners with demanding lawns.

Excellent Quality and Finish
I'm particular about my lawn, and the John Deere X330 delivers a pristine cut. The 48" Accel Deep deck truly pulls the grass blades up for a uniform trim. The 20 HP Kawasaki engine is surprisingly quiet for its power and always starts on the first try. The hydrostatic drive is smooth as silk, no jerky movements. I've got just under an acre, mostly fescue, and this machine makes it look like a golf course fairway. Worth every penny.

Handles my slop well
My property has some good inclines, and the X330 with its hydro-static transmission handles them confidently. The 20 HP Kawasaki V-Twin engine has never felt underpowered. I was specifically looking for a robust front end and that cast-iron front axle feels incredibly sturdy when I'm going over uneven terrain. The 48" deck is also great for getting through thicker patches. Super satisfied with this choice for my mountain home.

More than enough for my yard
Bought the X330 mainly for its reputation and the 20 HP Kawasaki engine. My property is a little over an acre, with lots of mature trees. The 48" Accel Deep deck makes quick work of it, and the cut quality is always superb. The tight turning radius with the hydro-static drive helps me get around all the obstacles. It's been incredibly reliable, starting up every spring with no fuss. A solid investment for a dedicated homeowner.

So much better than my old craftsman!
What a step up! The X330 feels like a real tractor, not a toy. The 20 HP Kawasaki V-Twin engine purrs and has tons of power. The hydrostatic transmission is a game-changer for me, making mowing my 1.2 acres much less tiring. The 48" Accel Deep deck leaves a beautiful, even cut, even in damp grass. The cast-iron front axle just feels so much more durable. I'm a John Deere believer now!

Dependable and Powerful
Living in the Midwest, we get some serious grass growth in the spring. The X330's 20 HP Kawasaki V-Twin engine breezes through it, and the 48" Accel Deep deck ensures a clean, consistent cut. I use it for my 1.7-acre property. It's been totally reliable and easy to maintain. The hydrostatic drive is super smooth, and the controls are intuitive. Highly recommend for any homeowner looking for a solid and powerful machine.

Great for our large yard
Me and my wife bought the X330 this spring for our 2-acre lot here in Tennessee. The 48" Accel Deep deck cuts so evenly, makes the yard look professionally done. The 20 HP Kawasaki V-Twin engine has plenty of power for our slightly sloped yard. The hydro-static transmission makes it very easy for both of us to use. We even got the bagger attachment for fall leaves. It's made yard work enjoyable again.

Tough as nails
I'm not on a huge ranch, but my 3 acres here in Montana can be tough on equipment. The X330 with its cast-iron front axle feels incredibly robust, handling bumps and rough patches without a complaint. The 20 HP Kawasaki V-Twin always starts up in the cold, and the 48" Accel Deep deck clears the taller grasses with ease. This machine is built to last, just what I needed.

The 48" Accel Deep deck provides an exceptional quality of cut, leaving a perfectly manicured finish on my 1.3-acre property. The 20 HP Kawasaki V-Twin engine runs smoothly and efficiently. The hydrostatic drive allows for precise control, especially around my garden beds. A truly premium mowing experience.

Florida Grass No Problem
My X330 handles the thick, fast-growing Florida grass like a champ. The 20 HP Kawasaki V-Twin engine never struggles, even when the grass is a bit wet. The 48" Accel Deep deck really does a great job of lifting and cutting, preventing clumping. The hydro-static transmission is a must for navigating all the obstacles in my 1.5-acre yard. Starts every time, runs strong. Very happy with this purchase.

A true workhorse
As a veteran, I appreciate quality and reliability, and the X330 delivers. The 20 HP Kawasaki V-Twin engine is powerful and dependable. I chose the 48" Accel Deep deck because of recommendations, and it cuts beautifully. My 2-acre property has some uneven spots, and that cast-iron front axle feels indestructible. This Deere will be with me for many years to come. Highly recommend it to anyone needing a robust mower.

Easy for the wife to use
Got the X330 this spring and it's been great. I wanted something that was easy for my wife to operate when I'm up north. The hydro-static drive makes it super simple, no clutch or gears to worry about. The 48" Accel Deep deck gives a nice, clean cut on our almost 2 acres. The 20 HP Kawasaki V-Twin engine has plenty of power, though it can be a little loud sometimes. Overall, a very solid mower.

Handles everything I throw at it
Up here in Maine, we get thick grass and lots of pine cones. My X330 with the 48" Accel Deep deck handles it all. The 20 HP Kawasaki V-Twin engine has never bogged down. That cast-iron front axle is a real plus on my somewhat rocky 1.8-acre property. It feels incredibly durable. The hydrostatic transmission makes navigating through the trees a breeze. Very happy with the quality and performance.

Even in the desert, it shines!
Even though I don't have green lawns year-round, when I do overseed, I need a great cut. The X330 with its 48" Accel Deep deck leaves a pristine finish. The 20 HP Kawasaki V-Twin means I'm not lacking power, and it's reliable in the heat. The hydro-static drive makes quick work of my acre plot. It's a joy to operate and keeps my small oasis looking perfect. Deere quality is evident.

Commercial feel for residential work
I'm a contractor but bought this X330 for my own 2.5-acre property. It has a real commercial feel to it. The 20 HP Kawasaki V-Twin is a proven engine, strong and fuel-efficient. The 48" Accel Deep deck cuts incredibly clean, no complaints there. That cast-iron front axle gives it robustness on my uneven yard. Hydro-static is standard for me. It's a serious mower for serious homeowners.

Fantastic at the lake house
This X330 has been perfect for my lake house property. We've got a little over 2 acres with some slopes leading down to the water. The 20 HP Kawasaki V-Twin engine has plenty of power for those hills, and the hydrostatic drive makes it easy to control. The 48" Accel Deep deck cuts quickly and evenly, even after a rainy week. The cast-iron front axle makes me feel confident on the varied terrain. It's a great machine.

Winter ready, summer king!
Bought the X330 this spring and already impressed. The 20 HP Kawasaki V-Twin fires right up, even on chilly mornings. The 48" Accel Deep deck handles the thick Wisconsin grass beautifully. I've got a plow attachment for winter, and that cast-iron front axle gives me confidence that it'll hold up. My 1.5-acre property has never looked better, and I'm ready for the snow too. Great investment.

48-inch deck is a game-changer
Same X330 you love, wider cut. My mowing time dropped by nearly a third on 4 acres. iTorque and the Kawasaki V-Twin never break a sweat.

Perfect for 3–4 acre lots
Twin Touch pedals, cruise, LEDs and a wider Accel Deep deck. Cuts fast, stripes beautifully. The 4-year warranty made it easy to justify vs. the S-series.

Select Series build, wider deck
Full welded steel frame, Kawasaki V-Twin, iTorque and now 48 inches wide. It's the sweet spot before jumping to an X500 diesel.

Cut quality is the reason I'd buy it again
Third season on the X330_48 and the finish is still dealership quality. Even in thick spring growth it lays the grass over cleanly in one pass instead of leaving stragglers I have to go back over.

Arrived fully assembled and ready

Starts on the first turn, every time
Cold mornings, hot afternoons, sitting three weeks between mows — the X330_48 fires right up. No surging, no stalling when I drop into taller grass.
— Kurt H. · Sheboygan, WI · 4 months ago · Verified
Comfortable enough for a two-hour mow
The seat and control layout on the X330_48 are genuinely well designed. I do about two hours at a stretch and get off without a sore back, which was never true of my old machine.
— Marisol T. · Bastrop, TX · 5 months ago · Verified
Better value than the box-store brands
I shopped the orange and red brands first. For the build quality and warranty, the X330_48 was the easy call — and Deere resale value is in a completely different league when you go to sell.
— Gerald B. · Hagerstown, MD · 6 months ago · Verified
Handles my slopes without drama
Property has a couple of moderate grades. Taking them across the face, the X330_48 stays planted and predictable. Never felt like it wanted to slide on me.

Maintenance is homeowner friendly
Oil, filter, blades and grease points on the X330_48 are all easy to reach. No pulling half the machine apart to do a routine service like some of the competition.
